Replied by admin on topic Steve Schallhorn on BBC Radio 5 live Investigates

Posted 16 Mar 2014 14:50 #182
When asked by Adrian Goldberg whether or not Optical Express would welcome greater regulation of the industry, Steve Schallhorn replied: "Listen... we would support practical regulations that would improve the industry and deliver meaningful benefits to our patients, we would certainly support that."

If this is true then I invite Steve Schallhorn and David Moulsdale to meet with me and John McDonnell before our scheduled meeting with the Health Minister next month. I will send a letter to both parties and post their replies here and on OERML.

When repeatedly pressed to answer the question that the ASA have ruled against Optical Express using their untrue claim that 99% of people achieve 20/20 vision, desperately looking for a rabbit hole, Steve sighed and said: "I'm a.. I'm a... ophthalmic surgeon and I can't address advertising issues."

Really Steve? Then if you're not involved with OE's marketing and not licensed to practice surgery in the UK, exactly what are you doing for OE?

Steve mentioned "rigorous standards established by our medical advisory board..." but forgot to mention that he's the IMAB Chairman!

Listen to Steve squirm!

Replied by admin on topic The Guardian doesn't want to hear negatives!

Posted 14 Oct 2013 13:38 #187
"On 20 November John McDonnell MP will present a 10 Minute Rule Bill in Parliament, calling for regulation of the Refractive Eye Surgery industry due to the 10,000s damaged by lasik, lasek, RLE etc...

My Beautiful Eyes free advisory service helps increasing numbers on a daily basis who've suffered adverse life changing problems following eye surgery at high street clinics: unsuitable patients passed for surgery, poor pre & post op care, surgeons operating a conveyor belt system, 'Sales Counsellors' working on target based salary and/or commissions, etc...

If you're considering laser eye surgery PLEASE do your research and look at the very real risks and debilitating downsides!

The horror stories you will find are true!

Replied by admin on topic URGENT: The Guardian needs to hear from you!

Let's see if The Guardian will print some truths!

www.theguardian.com/money/blog/2013/oct/...ve-laser-eye-surgery
Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it's up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday's paper.

This week's question:
I'm short sighted, really fed up with wearing contact lenses, and am thinking of having my eyes lasered. I've seen various prices quoted – from £1,200-£2,000. How much should I be paying and, more importantly, will it work? Anyone who's done it got any tips. Is it going to hurt?"

centrallobby.politicshome.com/legislatio...bill-200506-session/

"He (Frank Cook) believes that there is currently a worrying lack of regulation over laser treatment, with faulty machines leaving a significant number of patients with damaged eyesight."

Information which begs the question why the industry has been allowed to continue unregulated for so long?!

Replied by Industry Renegade on topic Government legislation

If Optical Express welcome legislation perhaps David Moulsdale can explain why OE threatened to sue the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2005 when Frank Cook (deceased) presented a Bill calling for Regulation of the Laser Eye Surgery industry which was then brushed into obscurity?

There are others better placed who should speak out & expose the corruption within this industry before they themselves are exposed for their part in it.
