Didn't Optimax recently make a statement to 'BBC One XRAY WALES' after the program investigated some claims?

From what I remember Ultralase sent out letters to patients stating that they would NOT honour the lifetime aftercare agreement as they had gone into administration! So after this was put on the air Optimax changed their mind and said they would honour it!

So this now means from the post below Optimax has gone back on their words? What sort of company behaves likes this? Quite clearly not above board and it sickens me to see how they claim to care about the welfare of patients when they clearly do not!

A number of Ultralase problem patients have told me that Optimax has informed them they will have to pay for any further treatment as Ultralase is in administration.

Understandably one Ultralase damaged patient was not amused when she received this email yesterday!

Who the heck would risk having eye surgery at a medical centre run by a new age crackpot?!

If this man needs a self help book to get him through the day I would be heading for the hills!

May I just add, that in over 7 years of this hell, I have never named a figure that I would accept as compensation... so how can Russell say I want too much?!

I have very recently discussed my health problems with my doctor, who told me he believes that I have complex PTSD; he also said that I do not need to see a psychiatrist. I have never seen one, and I am inclined to think my doctor knows a little more about the effects of emotional and physical trauma than Dr Russell! Ambrose!

Last year Sasha Rodoy arranged for damaged Optimax patient Caroline and her husband to meet Russell Ambrose in Leeds to discuss compensation.

After the meeting Russell told Sasha that Caroline wanted too much money so he wasn’t going to give her any, but said he thought she would benefit more from psychiatric treatment. He asked Sasha to tell Caroline he would be happy to pay for treatment. Sasha told Russell she wouldn’t be mentioning it to Caroline.

Russell then sent Caroline a 'self help’ book, which did not impress her at all and she told him so. By the way, Russell also sent self help books to Sasha and Myra Pridham.

This was the response Russell emailed to Caroline:

In December 2012 Russell Ambrose, owner of Optimax, bought struggling competitor Ultralase Ltd for approx £10 million. He published his promise online to honour Ultralase’s Lifetime Guarantee and look after any of their patients with problems.

Less than a year later Russell Ambrose realised he’d bought a heap of problems, so he reneged on his promises and put the company into administration - in the same way OE did with 123 Leeds etc… This left him debt free and any taxes owed to Inland Revenue written off.

But this is not the whole story!

I recently noticed adverts for Ultralase all over the internet. How could this be if they’re in administration?

Today I called the Ultralase clinic at 15 Harley St, London W1G 9QQ today and asked if they were trading. The response was very enlightening!

I was told that Russell Ambrose changed the name of Ultralase Ltd to Ultralase Eye Clinics Ltd because the former wasn't financially viable.

So he’s written off the Ultralase debts and problem patients but continues to trade under the Ultralase name!

And this is legal?

On the 3rd July 2012 Russell Ambrose admitted to Sasha Rodoy that his Optimax Medical Director, Dr Malcolm Samuel, had programmed the Nidek laser machine with the wrong setting and doubled the patient’s astigmatism!

Sasha recorded Russell telling her: "This is a clear case of negligence”. He also told Sasha that if she hadn’t pushed for an external consultation for the damaged patient no-one would have been any the wiser, Malcolm Samuel would have retreated him and he wouldn’t have known any different.

And Russell thinks that’s perfectly acceptable!

Russell paid the patient approx £50,000 to keep quiet.

The recording was included in one of Sasha Rodoy's YouTube videos, which had sat there for a year until last week ago when Russell complained to YouTube that the recording was invading his privacy.

It is scandalous that anyone damaged by Optimax is forced to keep quiet in return for compensation, required to sign a gagging order prohibiting them talking about Optimax.

Optimax would not have got away with continuing to harm people for so many years if the truth had been told sooner!

It was ONLY because she’d spoken on BBC Radio 5 Live Investigates in March - and asked me to post her video on YouTube, that after 7 years of hell Russell Ambrose recently offered to “consider” paying Amanda the cost of her eye drops IF she took down her video and produced the receipts.

Anyone considering laser/RLE eye surgery at Optimax be warned! They will take your money but it's tough luck if you have problems afterwards.

Trust me, there is NO Lifetime Aftercare!
