Replied by admin on topic Legal 'threats'...

Posted 10 Jan 2015 16:38 #151
To date it appears that I'm one of two people involved in the recent OE press stories who haven't been sent a threatening letter from this law firm - the Observer newspaper had one too!

Pity I didn't contact Schillings myself after my computer was hacked and my personal information (including bank account details) posted on the internet in 2012!

Not forgetting the online threats I received...

So much more yet to tell

Posted 07 Jan 2015 21:48 #152
Optical Express has responded to claims that one of the intraocular lenses it used was under scrutiny by regulators.

"Contrary to the media reports, we have been informed by Oculentis that there is no MHRA inquiry into the MPlus X lens."

Replied by admin on topic URGENT - PRESS REQUEST!

If you had multifocal lens replacement surgery at Optical Express between January and November 2014 it is likely that you were implanted with MPlus X lens.

As well as numerous legal claims now being processed, the press and media want to interview patients who are suffering problems with these lenses.

If you are willing to talk to a journalist please contact me asap: info@opticalexpressruinedmylife.co.uk

NB: Some newspapers are paying a fee on publication

"Sasha Rodoy, 61, who has been campaigning for better regulation of the corrective surgery industry, said: ‘The only reason anybody should have these operations is if it is the only option that will stop them going blind. They are just not safe.’

A spokesman for Oculentis confirmed the firm had received four ‘incident reports’ from the MHRA.

He added: ‘We are currently in the process of analysing the facts, as all of these reports are very unspecific and unsubstantiated, only basically mentioning poor distance vision as the main complaint.

NB: The word "Blindness" has since been removed from the Mail Online story after Optical Express issued legal proceedings against the Daily Mail.

Replied by admin on topic Guardian online

Since launching my campaign in 2012 I have been contacted by thousands of people with problems caused by laser eye surgery across the industry, but in 2014 the numbers with problems with replacement lenses rocketed,” said Sasha Rodoy, who runs the website Optical Express Ruined My Life, and who is campaigning for tighter regulation.

“For three years I have ensured that health secretary Jeremy Hunt was aware of the serious problems within this industry, but only after increased pressure did the health minister Dan Poulter recently agree to meet with me on 20 January. I hope now they listen
.”

'According to Optical Express, what resulted from operations on Jackson’s eyes in August and September – while acknowledging “an issue with high-order aberrations” such as haloes and poor night vision – was “a very good ocular outcome.”'*

* This was of course according to Stephen Hannan
